Hallows eve

Here it is Halloween again! Where does the time go? We had a fun night with friends at our house. Grilled Hot dogs to eat. Then a fun hayride through our streets to trick or treat. It is so great to see all the kids dressed up running from house to house yelling, "trick or treat". It's nice to know some traditions are still alive. Emma was Catwoman and Jake was Batman this year. They were quite a pair!

First day school 2012-2013

Here it is another year! Can't believe jake is in 4th grade and Emma is in 3rd. Only this year and next and jake will be in middle school! Don't like to think about it... Insert tears. They are both so ready to see their friends but not ready to get up early... Me neither! Here's to a good year!

Emma recital 2012

I can't believe this is my lite girl! These beautiful pictures taken by Ms. Bing her awesome ballet teacher just captures how much she has grown. Emma added jazz along with her ballet. And she continues to blow me away at how good she is getting. She's so beautiful when she dances and seems to love it! Dancing since she was three I can't believe how far she has come. Since adding tumbling this year she has become incredibly strong and her lines long. Great job at recital beautiful girl. You brought tears to my eyes!!

TV's and tornados

It's always amazing to me that kids now a days can't imagine their life without technology. We were just happy when the foil on the rabbit ears kept the lines away from the screen. Our kids just don't get it.... You had a cord attached to the phone? Why would you have that? I mean how can you walk to get the mail and talk on the phone? Crazy right? I think it is funny when they say to me, " So back in your day did they have TV's?" I'm like ok I'm not that old!! And just because we had 5 channels and had to use pliers to change it doesn't make me that old! Does it? Well I couldn't help but snap this photo during a recent storm. The sirens started going off and they assumed the position without being told. As Mark and I are doing the wrong thing, like standing by the glass front door watching, they were setting up shop. They made their pallets, along with pillows and blankets. Always good in a storm! Their crocs were in the corner because Dave "the weatherman" always says you don't want to get caught without shoes in a storm. You know glass and parts of your house could be hard on your feet when the fun is over. And of course they grabbed snacks because they might get hungry. They are always hungry! But the amount of technology they brought was the most funny of all! They both had their iPods, portable TV's, and, to top it off, my kindle fire. I almost lost it when I asked jake, " Why the TV's if you have the other stuff?" He responded as only a 10 year old can... Because if the power goes out the wifi won't work so we'll need something to watch and our TV's are charged. Really? When I was 10 I was just happy with rock, paper, scissors. Showing my age huh? Thank goodness the weather passed and the shoes placed in the bathroom were never needed.
