Hallows eve

Here it is Halloween again! Where does the time go? We had a fun night with friends at our house. Grilled Hot dogs to eat. Then a fun hayride through our streets to trick or treat. It is so great to see all the kids dressed up running from house to house yelling, "trick or treat". It's nice to know some traditions are still alive. Emma was Catwoman and Jake was Batman this year. They were quite a pair!

First day school 2012-2013

Here it is another year! Can't believe jake is in 4th grade and Emma is in 3rd. Only this year and next and jake will be in middle school! Don't like to think about it... Insert tears. They are both so ready to see their friends but not ready to get up early... Me neither! Here's to a good year!

Emma recital 2012

I can't believe this is my lite girl! These beautiful pictures taken by Ms. Bing her awesome ballet teacher just captures how much she has grown. Emma added jazz along with her ballet. And she continues to blow me away at how good she is getting. She's so beautiful when she dances and seems to love it! Dancing since she was three I can't believe how far she has come. Since adding tumbling this year she has become incredibly strong and her lines long. Great job at recital beautiful girl. You brought tears to my eyes!!

TV's and tornados

It's always amazing to me that kids now a days can't imagine their life without technology. We were just happy when the foil on the rabbit ears kept the lines away from the screen. Our kids just don't get it.... You had a cord attached to the phone? Why would you have that? I mean how can you walk to get the mail and talk on the phone? Crazy right? I think it is funny when they say to me, " So back in your day did they have TV's?" I'm like ok I'm not that old!! And just because we had 5 channels and had to use pliers to change it doesn't make me that old! Does it? Well I couldn't help but snap this photo during a recent storm. The sirens started going off and they assumed the position without being told. As Mark and I are doing the wrong thing, like standing by the glass front door watching, they were setting up shop. They made their pallets, along with pillows and blankets. Always good in a storm! Their crocs were in the corner because Dave "the weatherman" always says you don't want to get caught without shoes in a storm. You know glass and parts of your house could be hard on your feet when the fun is over. And of course they grabbed snacks because they might get hungry. They are always hungry! But the amount of technology they brought was the most funny of all! They both had their iPods, portable TV's, and, to top it off, my kindle fire. I almost lost it when I asked jake, " Why the TV's if you have the other stuff?" He responded as only a 10 year old can... Because if the power goes out the wifi won't work so we'll need something to watch and our TV's are charged. Really? When I was 10 I was just happy with rock, paper, scissors. Showing my age huh? Thank goodness the weather passed and the shoes placed in the bathroom were never needed.

Hair raising moment

There's that moment in life when you feel like you're losing control... I totally had that moment today. Today was Jake's baseball team summer party. Party went great! Swim party at one of our coaches house. Had hot dogs, hamburgers, chips and cupcakes. All the normal stuff. As I'm helping my friend clean the kitchen and wash dishes, I notice everyone is outside. Hmmm, wonder what is going on? So she and I walk outside and there is my nine year old son getting his hair shaved into a Mohawk! Not like a little Mohawk but full on Mohawk! He's grinning from ear to ear and his daddy is laughing. Everyone stares at me waiting for my response...all I can say is, "He has 4 cowlicks! That should be great growing back in!" After the initial shock wore off I, of course, laughed it off. His best friend Ethan gets one every summer, for fun. Jake thinks he's Barney Bad! He got home and he said, " So how long will it take for my hair to grow in?" I said, " a while." He said, " I'm gonna have to start 4th grade bald?" I said, "Well that's the choice you made!" My inner mother does her backhand spring. While I hate that he's worried about that... On the other hand, I was secretly like see! It's nice to have those I told you so moments without having to say it in those words. All in all it will be fine. As mark would say, "Now he's done it and hopefully will be over it!" He better hope so!

Dogs life

Some days I just wish I had a dogs life...of course that's in my house where dogs are treated like humans. Emma has forever been in love with animals. She has a special connection with animals, especially dogs. She has compassion for the smallest creature and gets very upset when you squish the tiniest thing, unless it's a spider. Spiders freak her out and of course wasps but who does like a wasp? I digress... Anyway I found her yesterday like this in the mud room. She was happy as a lark in her horse pjs, watching pound puppies on my kindle fire, drinking cranberry juice, with a spoon I might add. Judge for yourself... For just a moment she was enjoying a dogs life, minus the spoon and tv of course.

Baseball=Laundry! Good job Jake on second base tonight! Shivering in the rain (55*) and still playing his heart out! That's my boy!

Mighty minds

Tonight was Jake's third grade program at school. It was a cute 30 minute musical called Mighty Minds. It's a cute musical about test taking... Seeing as how tcaps are next week it was very fitting! We went and ate pizza in the cafeteria before the show. The kids were so excited! They love their school! Jake did awesome and performed the heck out of the songs and movements. We do love our music, even though he has rhythm like his dad... Poor kid! Here are a few pics of him in action (from my phone, so not the best) but we bought a video the school was having made and he got a picture made with all the mighty minds, which were played by the third grade teachers! Very funny!

Super wacky!

Today is wacky day at school, so the kids get to dress in wacky/ tacky clothes and crazy hair! Jake is like no biggie, but Emma decided she wanted to make this shirt... Her own design! I even let her use the cool touch glue gun with supervision... Kills me to give up control but she is determined to do
It herself. She also wants to put many pony tails in her hair stuffed with toys. We are a strange creature full of many ideas! So glad she likes to use her imagination! Never know where that can take her. Dream big little girl! Why do girls love this stuff and ( most) boys could care less? I just threw together some miss match stuff for him. He did add to spike his hair and he was good to go! He thought the coolest part was wearing miss match shoes! Funny! Here is the finished product!

Spring pic

Here are my sweet babies spring school pictures. Where did those sweet baby cheeks go to? Can't believe how big they ate getting! At this point I just want time to slow down!

And so it goes... March 2012

And so it goes...

Who would think that Emma would be the First one with a cast? Yes she wears that badge of honor. Wednesday she fell wrong on her hand at gymnastics and fractured to base of her fifth metacarpal. Cute pink cast. She was intrigued at first but soon figured out how much it has impacted her life. She was most worried about not being able to write well at school. Too funny! Most of us wouldn't worry about that but she is a pleaser and does love her teacher ms barbara . She wore first pink one for a week and then we return to see how it's doing. It was determined she had a buckle fracture at her 5th metacarpal. New cast for 3-4 weeks. And so it goes...
Mark hit a beaver with my Prius this week. Crazy how things happen but at least he and jake weren't hurt because it was a really big beaver! Torn my front bumper up and the whole fender well apart! Who woulda thunk it?
And so it goes...

June 2011 Lamb camp!

Emma went to lamb camp this year at Munford high. She and Natalie had a great time and named their lamb Loudy! They learned everything about lambs and how to care and feed them. She's right in her element when it comes to animals! At the end they were able to show their lambs and even as hot as it was she was beaming with pride!

Black belt (July 2011)

July 2011 jake got his 1st degree black belt!! So proud of him!!
Jake and Master Ko.

Dog days

Just some sweet pics of my precious dogs doing dog stuff and looking so cute! Notice the hole in the arm of the leather couch... Rudy was chewing his bone he found and didn't know he was including the arm of couch... Too late when I noticed. Something else to fix!

Read across America (march 2012)

This week at school was read across America in conjunction with dr suess's birthday! The kids were allowed to dress up as their favorite dr suess character. We love to read and love dr suess do here's who the kids decided to be... Very appropriate don't ya think?

Stop... Beaver time

Yes I said beaver! Can't believe it but mark and jake took my car to fultz for batting practice and on the way hit a beaver. You know you live in the country when you hit a beaver in the road. Only problem with this scenario is that mark was driving my Prius... Ouch! Beaver versus Prius and both lose! 1600$ in damage to my Prius and beaver is in heaven now! Crazy I know but true! Entire fender well torn out. Pics of damage! Can't imagine what a deer could do if a beaver can do this!

March blows in

March has blown right in! These windy spring days have been busy. Jake started his first season with the Rosemark reds baseball competitive team. This is a big change year! It's now kid pitch and all the rules have changed! It's now situational baseball including stealing bases! Wow so much to learn. He's handled it like a pro, as usual! The coaches include Everett, chad, Ryan and mark! All great dads who are working so hard to get the boys ready! Jake is doing some pitching and learning very fast! He does love his baseball! Got hit for the first time this season this Saturday... He was very tough and shook it off really well! Me on the other hand wanted to beat that pitcher up for hitting my baby in the back! I guess alls fair in love and baseball! Pics to follow soon!

Pesky elves (Dec. 2011)

The elves are back and making their messes as usual! Here are just a few of their antics this year! Enjoy!
